Lima, OH

We made it to our next venue in Lima, OH where we stayed in a big Howard Johnson’s and I was excited to be there to meet up with my friend, Tara Kellermeyer! Tara’s husband, Dan, is from Lima so she was glad to come up and visit the family and see the show and I was very thankful to see a familiar face and catch up with such a good friend. Our hotel there was fun because it had our first indoor pool so we were very excited to get to swim! The cast also took advantage of the tiny gym by doing our own version of “circuit training”, all rotating around the few machines to get our workout in all together. Ha ha! We find ourselves sometimes doing the most ridiculous things.

That first evening we had a full company dinner right out in the parking lot. Our technical director had bout a small grill on the road and we all pitched in for hotdogs and hamburgers and we had grilled asparagus, chips, etc. It was nice to all hang out together and be our own little family on the road. When I finally met up with Tara she took me to a local Lima favorite, Kewpee. It is a burger joint (similar to Wendy’s) that I was told was a necessity to experience the local flavor. Ha ha! Afterward I headed back to her mother-in-law’s house where I got to see Tara’s daughter, Grace, and I was able to do my laundry for FREE!!!! Ya know- it’s the little things in life on tour that really bring me joy.

Our show went well in the huge venue there in Lima and it was fun to perform with Tara in the audience and to see her after the show. I gave her our version of a backstage tour, which basically entails looking at the bus, and then she dropped me off at the hotel. It was a really fun night. I met up with the cast at that point at an Applebees right by our hotel where we enjoyed half-price appetizers and a couple of the girls from the cast decided to have some fun and flirt with some guys across the mostly empty restaurant. We laughed watching them go over and do there best to get these guys (who wer from out of town also) interested and finally it seemed to work, but it was hilarious when the guys were convinced that the girls were locals and couldn’t possibly be from NYC. Even after the lengthy story of our tour and the bus and what we were doing, they seemed skeptical so the girls left it alone.

It was just about time to decorate the bus for Halloween so we talked to the manager on duty and he took some convincing, but we eventually got some decorations from the restaurant to take on the road and we ended up heading back to the bus and hanging out for a bit. The funniest part of the night was when the two guys our girls were flirting with came by to check out to see if our story was possibly true. Their faces were priceless when they realized the mistake they made in not believing the story. They wanted to see the bus and hang out all the more, but the girls wouldn’t have any of it! Ha ha! We called it a night and caught up on some TV online before heading to bed and leaving the next morning.

Hope you are well,

Tripp
